Fall Leaf Garland Made with Coloring Pages

Fall-Leaves-Garland

If you’re like me, you have dozens (ok, hundreds) of coloring pages that you’ve finished, piled up in a corner of your office that you don’t know what to do with.  They’re too beautiful to throw away, and yet there is really nothing more you can do with them. Right?

Think again! This holiday season, I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite ways to recycle previously colored coloring pages. You’ll never throw out another page again!

Today’s project, just in time for Thanksgiving, is a fall leaf garland.  You’ll need the template:

It’s super easy to make! Choose (5) or (6) coloring pages with similar color schemes. I chose to print out some of these coloring pages on colored paper to make my fall colors more festive.

Cut out your template. If you notice in this picture, I’ve sort of done a patchwork coloring block around the edges of the whole page to make sure not to leave any white space.

Also, you may want to print your template on cardstock.  It will hold up a little better that way.

If you’re looking for some of the supplies I used, including fall color markers, the sequins, and the colored paper, you can buy them here on Amazon:

Next, fold your coloring page in half and match up the template to the center fold.  Use it to cut out the coloring page.

(NOTE: you may want to give more thought to words on your coloring page…as you can see, I cut mine out upside down. In the overall project, it’s not that big of a deal, but the perfectionist in me is having a hard time with it.)

Now it’s time to fold. Make accordion style folds, about a half-inch thick, on the cut out leaf.

Do this with (5) or (6) coloring pages, depending on how long you want your garland.  I made mine with (6), and it covered the top of my 6′ sliding glass window perfectly.

Next, take a length of rope, ribbon, or sequins and measure the area you want to hang the finished product in.  Make sure you leave extra room for tying/attaching the garland to the area, and leave a little room for it to hang down.

Now, staple the leaves to your string and hang the finished product!
