This week we’re going to take a trip ‘back in time’ and create a pinwheel. Pinwheels are from the 19th century; a modern version being introduced in 1919 by an Armenian immigrant toy manufacturer, Tegran M. Samour. (Source: Wikipedia)
Alright, let’s get started! First, you’ll need some supplies:
- Printer paper (not card stock)
- Straight Pins
- Pencils with erasers
- Pinwheel Spinners Template
First, print your Pinwheel Spinner Template below. It’s important for this craft you use card stock paper.
How to Make a Pinwheel Spinners
Once you have it printed, color the pages. I colored mine with fine point Sharpie markers, but you can use colored pencils, or any other medium you wish:
Once they are colored, cut them out and cut along the lines. Once cut, gather all your supplies:
Now it’s time to assemble the pieces into pinwheels. You’ll do this by bringing the folded pieces together and using tape to secure the pieces in place:
Now it’s time to use a stick pin and thread it through the paper like this:
Push the pin into the eraser until it comes all the way through the other side and the pencil eraser is touching the center of the pinwheel:
And voila, there you have it – pinwheel spinners.
